Jack Wilson

Began in the industry in 1954 felling pine trees with a bow saw and carted them on an ex army truck to the mill in Mt Gambier.

In later years he had crane trucks built to accommodate longer length trees and work became much easier with machine operated loading.

In the beginnings he was involved in carting wood to Ballarat in a 24 hour operation which in those days was a rarity.

Unfortunately half of his machinery was destroyed during the Ash Wednesday fires. He purchased new equipment and worked in the industry until 1984.
